Book Fair and Movie Night

Davey PTO hosts two Scholastic Book Fairs during every school year.  Our first book fair is held in the fall and is an awesome way to get kids excited about reading early in the school year.  During this fair we always have a preview day, two sale days, and a free family movie night on the last night. Families can check out the book fair while also enjoying a free movie at the school.  The profit we make at the fall book fair is given back to our students at the spring BOGO book fair when the PTO gives every student, kindergarten through grade 5, a $5 voucher to use at the spring book fair.  This voucher helps to ensure that every student is able to purchase two books from the book fair regardless of whether their families are able to send them to school with money.

We remember how much fun the book fair was when we were kids and we are so excited to share that opportunity with our students.  The Davey PTO also uses our book fair profits to purchase a book for every student in our preschool at the spring book fair. Profits also go toward purchasing some of the books that our principal gives out to every student on their birthday. We also hand out Caught Reading Tickets that are given to students who are seen reading throughout the school day that can be traded in for a $5 book at the fair.

Davey PTO feels that helping our students be excited about reading is such an important part of elementary school, and we always look forward to sharing the excitement that the book fair brings with our students!
